2016 Online Journalism Awards Winners announced
 ICYMI, the best in online journalism was honored at ONA16 at the Online Journalism Awards Banquet that closed out ONA16. The Texas Tribune, Quartz, AJ+ Digital News Publishing and The New York Times each took home a General Excellence Award and dozens of other outlets were recognized for their outstanding work. Sima Diab, documentary photographer and freelance photojournalist, received the second James Foley Award for Conflict Reporting for her unflinching coverage of the lives and living conditions of Arabs around the world. Journalist and teacher Steve Buttry was honored with the 2016 Rich Jaroslovsky Founder Award for his longtime work in digital media. Get involved with Journalism 360
 Launched by Google News Lab and the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation at ONA16, Journalism 360 is an immersive news initiative that will support the growing global network of journalists using 360 video, augmented and virtual reality for storytelling. Funding for innovation in journalism education
 ONA’s Challenge Fund for Innovation in Journalism Education will once again support live news experiments in J-schools, creating opportunities for collaboration with newsrooms, researchers and other professionals to produce innovative local news. Thanks to the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation; the Democracy Fund; Excellence and Ethics in Journalism Foundation; the Robert R. McCormick Foundation and the Rita Allen Foundation, all of whom have renewed their support for this round of funding, totaling $985,000.
