UNITY, an organization promoting ethnic diversity in journalism, is offering a series of bootcamps to help journalists of color succeed as news entrepreneurs. New U (News Entrepreneurs Working through UNITY) comprises a series of two-day boot camps at each of the four summer 2010 UNITY alliance partner organizations' conventions. Four participants will be chosen from applicants from each partner organization. Travel expenses and the program costs are covered by a grant from the Ford Foundation.

Here are UNITY partner organizations, and associated New U application deadlines:

  • National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ): This application deadline was June 1, but there may be slots still open, so the sooner you apply, the better.
  • Native American Journalists Association (NAJA): June 25, Midnight
  • National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ): July 2, Midnight
  • Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA): July 9, Midnight
