ONA Brasil debuts May 29 with International Seminar on Online Journalism in Sao Paolo

More than 100 journalists and developers will be on hand for ONA Brasil's kickoff event, the first International Seminar on Online Journalism, May 29 in Sao Paulo. Experts from major media outlets and universities in Brasil, the United States, Britain and Spain will participate in the event, organized by the Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas at the University of Texas at Austin, the Casper Libero College, and ONA Brasil.The seminar is 9 a.m.-6 p.m. BRST (GMT/UTC -3 hours) and will discuss the various aspects involved in building the future of digital journalism: interactive databases, algorithms, news generated by the public, mobile and digital platforms, and narrative journalism on the Internet. Attendees will hear from a panel of leading Brazilian digital journalists, and separately, an international contingent to include MSN UK's Creative and Development Editor and ONA Board member Katie King, presenting on portals, and ONA member Paul Brannan, Editor of Emerging Platforms at BBC, who will present on mobile. Other represented media organizations include the New York Times, Folha, Estadão, Globo, Exame, Veja, Zero Hora, Jornal do Commercio, UOL, iG, G1 and Terra, and the Brazilian Association for Investigative Journalism (Abraji).
