Join your fellow ONA regional members and the UW journalism community for a panel discussion on our profession. The topic: "Journalism on the Brink? Can Digital Save It?"
Admission is free and open to the public.
The panel will be moderated by Hanson Hosein, a former Emmy Award-winning NBC journalist and now the director of the Master of Communication in Digital Media at the University of Washington. Our host will be David Domke, UW Journalism chair.
Hosein and Domke will be joined by:
- Cory Bergman, MSNBC, expert on future of local media through LostRemote.com, MyBallard.com;
- Ross Reynolds, host of KUOW's "The Conversation" and a researcher on public radio's business model;
- Monica Guzman, online reporter at the Seattle Post-Intelligencer who uses social media tools to share her work; and
- John Cook, ex-PI reporter who has created TechFlash, which covers the Puget Sound tech community.
- Cory Tolbert Haik, Director of Content, SeattleTimes.com, and member of ONA Board of Directors.
Audio of the panel discussion will be streamed live. Video will be posted within 48 hours for viewing.
Afterward: The discussion will continute over beer and food at the Big Time Brewery and Alehouse at 4133 University Way NE.
