Old Business
The meeting was called to order at 1:05 p.m. ET. Jody Brannon moved to approve the minutes of the November board meeting. Josh Hatch seconded. The minutes were approved unanimously.
Board Business and Administrative
Executive Director Jane McDonnell and President Jim Brady said thanks to the outgoing board members for their service and highlighted some of the projects they worked on over the years.
McDonnell introduced Irving Washington in the new capacity of Director of Operations. McDonnell briefly discussed the plan for the next in-person board meeting, Thursday and Friday, Jan. 24-25, 2013. She said she’ll send out a detailed itinerary soon.
2013 Board
Brady started the discussion about the 2013 board appointment for diversity to replace Rob King, who resigned from the position in the Fall.
A list of more than a dozen potential candidates who were nominated by current board members and staff were extensively reviewed. Brady said he would send out the list for an email vote to be completed after the call.
Legal Committee
Legal Affairs Chair Josh Hatch closed out the meeting with an update that the intelligence bill the Sunshine in Government Initiative had been fighting had been amended in ways SGI wanted. Hatch said he would keep the Board and committee posted on the final vote.
