Christine Montgomery announced to the Board members on the call that there was an idea on the table to merge the Online News Association with the American Society of News Editors.
Anthony Moor said he is on the board of ASNE and talked about ASNEs strong interest in the merger. He said that post-ASNE conference he feels the two organizations are, “very aligned.”
Jim Brady and Christine talked about how at this point it is all a very general conversation and more conceptual.
Christine told the Board they would need to have more buttoned-down conversation and learn more about the logistics of how this would actually work.
The Board then had an initial conversation on the proposal and said it would talk about the idea more in- depth at the May in-person board meeting. And that in the meantime, a list of questions and concerns will be started on the Writeboard for board members to contribute.
