Dow Jones Foundation renews $50K leadership grant

We’re delighted to announce a renewed grant from the Dow Jones Foundation to support a second series of unique networking events for digital media leaders. The grant allows us to continue ONA’s Digital Leadership Breakfasts, four invitation-only, off-the-record conversations to be held quarterly in 2015-16 in Los Angeles, in conjunction with ONA15, as well as Denver, Miami and Boston or Austin.

Calling for White House transparency

In July of last year, ONA was part of a media coalition that urged the Obama administration to change policies that restrict federal agencies from providing critical information to journalists and, ultimately, the public. With no response, this week 52 journalism and open government groups reiterated that request, with ONA saying, “Transparency … has to be a commitment from the highest levels to every hall of government.”

Last chance to help lead ONA

Applications and nominations for ONA’s Board of Directors are due this Friday, Aug. 14. If you’re interested in working with other esteemed leaders in the digital journalism space to advance the industry, apply now. (Note that nominees and nominators must be active ONA members.)
